Additional Resources

The mission of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is "Managing fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people."

We uphold this mission through a diversity of habitat and species conservation programs:

Additional conservation efforts are provided via education; regulation; and law enforcement.

One of the conservation programs administered by FWC is Florida's Wildlife Legacy Initiative, a program designed to operate at an ecosystem or habitat scale to provide for the greatest benefits to the widest possible array of fish and wildlife species, keeping common species common.

Implementing these efforts requires extensive collaboration, pooling of resources, and sharing of information with our partners.  Partners include citizens, non-governmental organizations, businesses, universities and federal, state and local governmental agencies. One of the primary funding partners is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Federal Aid program.

In addition, we partner with private landowners to enhance wildlife habitats on private landholdings by providing technical assistance, financial incentives, and recognition through the Landowner Assistance Program

Our mission: Managing fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people.
