The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recognized an FWC law enforcement officer for his service and a local artist for his talent on Wednesday at the December meeting in Key West.

Major Paul Ouellette recognized Officer Gordon Sharp of Monroe County for his 27 years of service to the agency.  From crocodiles to crawfish, Sharp has brought people abusing Florida's precious resources to justice.  Over the years, Sharp was also actively involved in enforcing conservation regulations pertaining to marine fisheries.

Also, Commissioners recognized Islamorada artist John David Hawver for his work documenting the simple beauty of the Florida environment.  Hawver's paintings and pastels are inspired by nature.  Hawver said his work is his "way of addressing modern life, urban sprawl and the depletion of natural resources."
