Special Use Vehicle Summary 2012-2013

Area specific stipulations for Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and Wildlife Environmental Areas (WEAs)

Arbuckle WMA

Lock combination: 8118. In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. Roads open for permittees will be identified by road signs during the hunting season. SUV roads end at “Road Closed” signs. Scouting is allowed during the month prior to the start of the archery and spring turkey seasons. Permit does not supersede road closure notices posted at the check station. Permit valid only during the scouting period or during seasons when hunting with archery equipment or guns is allowed. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Avon Park AFR

Permittee shall observe all closed management units as posted on “current status map” at the check station. Permittee shall be driven into area selected for hunting, dropped-off, and picked-up later. Vehicles shall not be parked off of designated roads. Violation of Avon Park Air Force Range Hunting Regulations may result in revocation of this permit. Contact Avon Park AFR at (863) 452-4254 for area specific regulations. Permit valid only during periods open to hunting. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Babcock/Webb WMA

In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on firebreaks or well-defined vehicle trails. “Cross-country” travel is prohibited. During non-hunting periods the permit is valid in the recreation area only. Permit is valid throughout the area when hunting is allowed and one week (7days) prior to the archery hunt for scouting purposes. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Babcock Ranch Preserve

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Chassahowitzka WMA

In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Croom WMA

User must obtain a State Forest Special Use Permit at the Withlacoochee Forestry Center Recreation Office (352-754-6896) after obtaining the FWC SUV permit. Both permits must be kept on their person at all times. In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. Permit valid only during seasons when hunting with archery equipment or guns is allowed. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Green Swamp WMA

In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. Permit does not supersede road closure notices posted at the check station. Permit valid only during periods when vehicles are allowed for hunting or scouting. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Green Swamp West Unit WMA

Hickory Hammock WMA

Vehicle access is allowed only by obtaining vehicle access authorization from the South Florida Water Management District, 800-250-4200 ext. 3333 or online at my.sfwmd.gov/recreation . Vehicles may be operated on the road marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. Vehicles are to be parked at the horse barn. Permit valid only during seasons when hunting is allowed and one day before and after each season. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Hilochee WMA

KICCO WMA

Vehicle access is allowed only by obtaining vehicle access authorization from the South Florida Water Management District, 800-250-4200 ext. 3333 or online at my.sfwmd.gov/recreation . In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. All gates shall be left in the position encountered by permittee. Permit valid only during seasons when hunting is allowed and one day before and after each season. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Kissimmee River PUA

Vehicle access is allowed only by obtaining vehicle access authorization from the South Florida Water Management District, 800-250-4200 ext. 3333 or online at my.sfwmd.gov/recreation . Vehicles may be operated on the roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. Permit valid only during seasons when hunting is allowed and one day before and after each season. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Lake Marion Creek WMA

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Myakka State Forest SGA

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Osprey Unit of Hilochee WMA

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Royce Unit of Lake Wales Ridge WEA

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Upper Hillsborough WMA

Lock combination: 1983. (Only needed when the gate at the check station is closed. Please lock the gate after entering.) In addition to established named or numbered roads, vehicles may be operated on roads marked by a solid yellow line identified on the SUV map. This permit does not supersede road closure notices posted at the check station. Permit valid only during seasons when hunting with archery equipment or guns is allowed and after 3 p.m. one day prior to each hunt except small game. This permit does not allow the use of ATVs.

Walk-in-the-Water WMA

SUV permit is not valid on this area.

Yucca Pens Unit of Babcock/Webb WMA
