The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission (FWC) will host a free bowhunting course Saturday, Aug.
28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 29, from 8-10 a.m. in
Miami-Dade County.
Have you ever wondered how the hunter fits into
modern-day conservation efforts? Are you interested in learning how
to safely handle a bow and arrow? These are just two of the
instructional areas covered in the bowhunting course. Students also
will receive hands-on experience shooting a bow and arrow on the
range. Students are encouraged to bring their own bow-hunting
equipment. Attendance is required on both days.
The course will be at South Ridge Park, 11250 SW
192 St., Miami. To get there from U.S. 1 or the Florida Turnpike,
go west on Quail Roost, south at SW 114 Ave., east at SW 192 St.
and then turn right into South Ridge Park at the fire hydrant.
Space is limited and reservations are required. For
more information and to sign up, go to MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or
call 561-625-5122. A statewide schedule of hunter safety and bow
hunting classes also is available on the FWC's website.
Parents or legal guardians must accompany children
under 16 years of age to all classes.
