(FWC) investigators are continuing to explore the circumstances
leading to the death of a man whose body was found floating in East
Bay over Memorial Day weekend. A boater spotted the body and
notified investigators, who believe it may be missing boater James
Cook.
Cook was seen jumping off a speeding boat, the
"Hook and Cook," not far from Redfish Point in St. Andrews Bay May
24.
Witnesses told investigating officers the man who
had jumped off his boat did not resurface. An extensive
search-and-rescue operation began immediately.
Saturday afternoon, FWC officers received a call
from a boater who discovered the body washed up on Military Point,
across from the paper mill on the Tyndall Air Force Base side of
the bay.
The body was taken to the Bay County Medical
Examiner's Office for positive identification.
