Waterfowl hunt application period extended

The first application period for waterfowl hunts on
T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area in Brevard County, including
the Broadmoor Marsh Unit, has been extended through Oct. 28. It was
originally scheduled from Oct. 15-24.
"A problem with the licensing system vendor has
caused the applications to be down for this particular waterfowl
area since Tuesday," said Erin Rainey, Recreational Licensing
Section leader for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission (FWC). "The applications are back up and running now;
however, we want to extend the application period through Oct. 28
to allow customers ample time to submit their applications."
T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area and the
Broadmoor Marsh Unit comprise a 6,270-acre wetland-restoration
project in the upper St. Johns River basin. The objective of the
areas is to maintain high quality wetland habitat for wintering,
migrating and resident waterfowl, and other wetland wildlife, while
providing recreational opportunities to the public. The two areas
include 3,000 acres of intensively managed impoundments, with the
remaining acres being maintained as open marsh habitat.
