The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a free hunter safety Internet completion course in Suwannee County.

The course will be at the Wellborn Community Center in Wellborn. Instruction will take place Feb. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. The range portion will be Feb. 12, from 8:30 a.m. until complete at the Osceola Shooting Range in Lake City.

Students must complete the Internet course prior to coming to class and should bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. The final report doesn't have to be notarized.

All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children under 16 at all times.

The hunter safety course is required for everyone born on or after June 1, 1975, to purchase a Florida hunting license.  The FWC course satisfies hunter safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces. People interested in attending a course can register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC's regional office in Lake City at 386-758-0525.
