The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will
host a free hunter safety course on June 2-4 and June 12 in Collier
and Charlotte counties. People seeking certification must attend
all four days.
Students will learn about hunting laws, hunter
ethics/responsibility and safe gun handling, among other topics,
before taking the final test. The course also includes live-firing
instruction on a shooting range.
The location and times for this class will be given to those who
register in advance by calling the FWC's South Region office at
561-625-5122 or going to MyFWC.com/HunterSafety.
Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must complete the hunter
safety course before purchasing a Florida hunting license. The FWC
course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other
states and Canadian provinces.
Those interested in attending a course can register online and
obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety
or by calling the FWC's regional office in West Palm Beach at
