Hunter safety course offered in Jefferson Co.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is
offering a free hunter safety course in Jefferson County.
The course will be at Jefferson Correctional Institution (JCI),
1050 Big Joe Road in Monticello. Driving directions to the facility
are at the Department of Corrections website, JeffersonCI.com.
Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8, and 1 to 5 p.m. Oct.
Students who have taken the Internet course and wish to complete
the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report and
attend only the Oct. 9 class from 1 to 5 p.m.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all
times. Students are encouraged to bring a pencil and paper with
them to take notes.
The hunter safety course is required for people born on or after
June 1, 1975, to purchase a Florida hunting license. The FWC course
satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states
and Canadian provinces.
