FWC to discuss Orange Lake aquatic plant management

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is holding a meeting to discuss Orange Lake aquatic plant management issues.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7, at the Division of Plant Industry, 1911 S.W. 34th St., in Gainesville. This meeting space is handicap-accessible.

Interested members of the public are encouraged to attend to express their views and provide comments on aquatic plant management issues for Orange Lake. The information received at this meeting will be used to help develop the aquatic plant management plan for the next fiscal year.

Help remove nonnative lionfish from Florida waters to limit negative impacts to native fish and wildlife. They can be speared, caught in hand-held nets or on hook and line.
