Boater killed near Keewaydin Island

Carlos Ignacio Aragon (DOB 08/12/80) of Miami was killed in a boating accident Sunday in Collier County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Jorge Mendez (DOB 03/07/60), also of Miami, and Aragon were each operating personal watercraft near Keewaydin Island. Their two Jet Skis collided, and Aragon was ejected. He died from his injuries during transport to Naples Community Hospital.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time,” said FWC Officer Jorge Pino. “We are investigating the accident to determine the cause and other details.”
