Due to recent rainfall, an approximately half-mile portion of McLemore Road on the Gores Landing Unit of the Ocklawaha River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) has become impassable and is closed to vehicle traffic until Oct. 8.

The partial closure is about midway along McLemore Road, the main road that runs north and south in the WMA. The closure could affect those planning to hunt during the archery season, which opens Saturday and runs through Oct. 7.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will re-evaluate the road after the archery season to determine its condition and if it can be reopened.
