Information Science and Management

Information Science and Management researchers provide the technological expertise to support the broad approach necessary to address Florida's complex fish-, wildlife-, and habitat-related issues.

Information Science and Management
The Information Science and Management (IS&M) section produces, analyzes and manages scientific data and information used by federal, state and local governments and the public to aid in the conservation of fish and wildlife. This section employs techniques that include computer mapping of habitats, ensuring the statistical validity of research, electronic sharing and delivery of research findings, high-quality document production and Internet applications that promote the sharing of information between scientists and stakeholders. IS&M staff also provide data-management services, economic assessments and scientific library services.

Center for Biostatistics and Modeling
Researchers provide biostatistics consulting support, develop study designs and statistical analysis plans, carry out quantitative analyses of scientific data, and produce user-friendly software tools for performing statistical analysis and modeling procedures.

Center for Spatial Analysis
Researchers map habitats and use analytical computer mapping and data analysis techniques to create, in various formats, summaries of information needed by natural resource managers.

Information Access
Program staff members maintain the Research Information Center (Library), Publications Production Office, and Specimen Information Services and develop database management strategies to ensure access to FWRI data.

Socioeconomic Assessment
Socioeconomic Assessment Researchers conduct quantitative economic research studies in support of FWC's efforts to conserve Florida's fish and wildlife resources.
