Bay Scallop Argopecten irradians
Bay scallops are found from Nova Scotia to the Texas and can be
categorized into several subspecies. Bay scallops found in Florida
usually have 17-21 ribs and are found in seagrass beds. Most
animals have one mottled gray-brown shell and one white shell while
the orange variety is less abundant.
Look closely at the image and you will be able to see the gill
between the two shells.
