Ghost Crab Burrow

Ghost crabs can be found on the upper beach and dunes around most of Florida. These animals construct burrows in the sand, sometimes forming complex tunnel systems. Tunnels are almost perfectly round and often are surrounded by a pile of discarded sand near the entrance. Tunnels are normally constructed with two openings, though the first hole (where the crab first began digging the tunnel) maybe filled from the inside once the crab has completed the burrow.
