Measuring Vertical Profiles

Molluscan Fisheries staff using standard surveying techniques to measure the elevation, width, and shape of the beach. Measurements begin 3 meters into the vegetation of the upper beach and continue at regular intervals until the person bearing the stadia rod is below sea level. Monthly measurements are used to assess the impact of erosion on nourished and unnourished beaches in Pinellas County.
