Opportunities for bird watching abound at Little Gator Creek.

Most of the area is forested and supports breeding populations of summer tanagers, Carolina chickadees, yellow-throated warblers, and blue gray gnat catchers. Alligators and raccoons are common on Little Gator Creek.

Burrowing owls live as single breeding pairs or in loose colonies consisting of two or more families. Unlike most owls, burrowing owls are active during both day and night.
