The best times to visit are during the milder months of the year when flooding and temperatures are at a minimum. Fall and spring offer good opportunities to observe wildflowers and migratory birds.

Small, high-quality hunts for deer, feral hog, and migratory game birds are held on several weekends in the fall. Muzzleloading and archery seasons are scheduled in the fall, too. Turkey hunts are held the spring. Small game can be hunted in early winter. During general gun hog-dog season in January, wild hogs may be hunted with up to three dogs per permit.

Hunters must comply with all hunting regulations
